Executive Director, Portfolio Analytics & Systems Architecture (AI/ML)

What you will do

• Design and scale enterprise reporting, analytics, and insights capabilities across clinical studies, programs, and the portfolio.
• Establish a governed single source of truth by integrating operational, vendor, benchmarking, planning, budget, and actuals data.
• Architect operational data infrastructure, including data lakes or warehouses, semantic layers, data products, and clinical systems integrations, in partnership with IT/Digital.
• Define clinical study, program, and portfolio KPIs and deliver predictive and prescriptive analytics for timelines, costs, risks, enrollment, quality, and vendor performance.
• Build AI-enabled scenario modeling, country and site selection intelligence, study-level insights, and portfolio resource and capacity planning.
• Drive adoption of analytics through governance reviews, portfolio prioritization, study health checks, change management, and compliant operating practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or life sciences field; a Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Biostatistics, Operations Research, or a related discipline is preferred.
• 18+ years of increasing responsibility in biopharma or biotech R&D, including 5+ years leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience building enterprise data and analytics platforms, single-source-of-truth solutions, KPI frameworks, operational planning models, and plan-versus-actual analyses for R&D portfolios.
• Hands-on expertise in advanced analytics and machine learning, including forecasting, simulation, optimization, and operational decision-support tools.
• Strong understanding of clinical development, including feasibility, site activation, enrollment, data management, monitoring, and close-out, with familiarity with GCP/GxP, GDPR, data privacy, and validation requirements.
• Executive presence, strong communication and decision-making skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across a matrix organization.

Nice to have

• Experience with site and country selection analytics, enrollment prediction, and vendor performance analytics.
• Familiarity with CTMS, EDC, eTMF, RTSM, safety, eCOA, enterprise planning, and HR capacity-planning systems.
• Background in data governance, metadata, master data management, data product management, and adoption at scale.
• Master’s or PhD in a relevant discipline or an MBA.
