Principal Engineer - Facilities Engineering (Water Purification)

Location: Fully onsite in Essex Junction, Vermont, United States

Salary: $85,000–$146,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership for potable and ultrapure water purification and distribution systems, including reverse osmosis, ion exchange, degasification, and filtration.
• Support daily manufacturing-site operations, maintenance issues, troubleshooting, process monitoring, and customer interface activities.
• Analyze utility-system performance, quality data, system capacity, and demand to maintain process control and guide capital planning.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, equipment experiments, system modifications, and cost and reliability improvements.
• Develop budgets, manage projects, improve P&IDs, and lead the creation and revision of maintenance procedures and SOPs.
• Support operations training and ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering program.
• 3–5 years of experience in water purification or a related manufacturing environment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and wear a respirator.
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ownership, and proactive communication.
• Ability to support continuous manufacturing operations during off-hours when required.

Nice to have

• Master of Science in Chemical Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in facilities engineering.
• Ultrapure water experience.
• Project management skills and the ability to execute solutions in ambiguous situations.
