Staff Software/Firmware Engineer (Embedded Linux)

What you will do

• Translate customer needs into advanced flow cytometry and related product development.
• Participate in the full firmware lifecycle from requirements through product release.
• Design and develop embedded software using real-time Linux, embedded real-time operating systems, and STM32-based firmware.
• Collaborate with electronic and software engineering teams to ensure designs meet product specifications.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate design details and project status to project teams and managers.
• Lead functional teams or projects and solve complex technical problems using innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 7+ years, or doctoral degree with 4+ years.
• Extensive experience in embedded development, real-time operating systems, state-machine-based system design, and object-oriented programming.
• Strong experience with C, C++, assembly language, embedded Linux multiprocessing and multithreading, socket programming, shell scripting, and thread and memory pool optimization.
• Experience with STM32, FreeRTOS or similar real-time operating systems, multiprocessor interrupt handling, ARM architecture, and embedded Linux components including Yocto and BSP.
• Experience developing device drivers for Ethernet, USB, UART, RS422, RS485, I2C, SPI, and CAN.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and work effectively with external suppliers, support engineers, and other development teams.

Nice to have

• FPGA development experience with Xilinx, Quartus, Qsys, or NIOS.
• High-speed LVDS communication development experience.
• Experience with C# or C++ client-server and multi-tier applications, Linux Qt applications, and automated unit testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with SVN, Git, ClearCase, Perforce, UML, and Visio.
• Knowledge of electronic engineering concepts such as ADC, DAC, frequency, and power control.
