Principal Applied AI/ML Scientist (Auth0 Lab)

Location: Hybrid role requiring attendance at a local office twice a week; offices in Bellevue, Washington; Chicago, Illinois; New York, New York; San Francisco, California; and Washington, DC.

Annual base salary: $274,000–$376,200 USD for candidates in California excluding the San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington. A separate annual range of $244,000–$335,500 USD is also listed.

What you will do

• Model and solve authentication and security problems using AI and machine learning.
• Lead end-to-end model development, including traditional ML training and fine-tuning and alignment of small and large language models.
• Create and maintain evaluation and training datasets and workflows.
• Take ideas from research through prototypes to product recommendations.
• Evaluate outcomes across quality, security, latency, and cost.
• Set the technical direction for AI innovation and take new product ideas from 0 to 1.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning or applied research roles.
• Experience leading multiple 0-to-1 AI or ML projects and shipping practical AI or ML systems.
• Strong Python, machine learning frameworks, and software engineering skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, understand computer systems, and solve complex problems.
• Strong customer understanding, communication, collaboration, and iterative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work from and attend a designated U.S. office twice per week.
