2027 Summer Intern – Global Purchasing and Supply Chain (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan, United States; attendance at the GM Global Technical Center is required at least three times per week.

What you will do

• Source parts, systems, and technologies for GM vehicles and future electric vehicle products.
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to balance cost, quality, timing, and innovation.
• Plan and support vehicle and propulsion production by ensuring plants receive the right parts at the right time.
• Use data to manage demand, material changes, and daily supply chain operations.
• Support inbound and outbound logistics, including packaging, routing, and delivery solutions.
• Contribute to value chain, sustainability, accessories, aftermarket, supplier resiliency, GM Energy, and new business model projects.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, packaging, purchasing, procurement, contract management, business, engineering, business analytics, or management information systems.
• Expected graduation between December 2027 and August 2029.
• Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week during the summer months.
• Must be able to work in the United States without GM immigration sponsorship, including sponsorship or immigration support for H-1B, OPT, STEM OPT, CPT, TN, J-1, or similar authorization.
• Must report to the Warren, Michigan location at least three times per week.

Nice to have

• Previous purchasing, logistics, or supply chain internship experience.
• Curiosity and aptitude for learning AI-enabled tools and applying them in a business context.
• Supply chain case competition or similar academic association experience.
• Strong interpersonal, relationship management, teamwork, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.
