Quantum Control Theorist (Quantum Computing): Designing, modelling, and testing high-fidelity quantum operations for impactful quantum computers with an accent on quantum dynamics, hardware-informed physics models, and experimental validation. Focus on developing control methods, benchmarking quantum operations, implementing methods on quantum devices, and comparing experimental results with theoretical predictions.
Location: Hybrid in Haywards Heath, England, or remote from Germany; the role can also be based in Hamburg. Applicants must be based in Germany for the remote position.

What you will do
- Design control methods for high-fidelity and fast quantum operations.
- Develop accurate physics models using real hardware specifications.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to implement new methods on quantum devices.
- Develop procedures for benchmarking quantum operations.
- Analyse experimental results and compare them with theoretical predictions and models.
Requirements
- Experience designing control methods for high-fidelity quantum operations.
- Strong background in light-matter interaction theory and software modelling of quantum dynamics.
- Experience collaborating with experimental research groups or the quantum hardware industry.
- Experience with circuit-level quantum noise models and quantum-operation benchmarking.
- Proficiency in scientific programming, such as Python, and a PhD in quantum computing, quantum control, or a related field.
- Published research results and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with quantum gates in ion-trap devices.
- Experience with Qiskit.
