Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany; hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week in the office

What you will do
- Own the technical outcome of complex space missions from technical development through on-orbit verification.
- Lead requirements development, validation, verification, change management, and flow-down from mission-level to subsystem requirements.
- Manage technical risks, budgets, subsystem interfaces, verification activities, and system performance outcomes.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, contractors, project managers, and internal engineering teams.
- Coordinate satellite platforms, operations systems, payloads, customer APIs, and software service interfaces.
- Support sales engineering with technical concepts, feasibility assessments, budgets, mission scope, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, an equivalent STEM subject, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a technical engineering discipline or systems engineering for complex integrated systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of space systems, concepts of operations, and remote systems operation.
- Experience coordinating technical work across multiple engineering disciplines and communicating with customers and contractors.
- Ability to work from the Munich office at least three days per week under the hybrid work model.
- Access to US export-controlled software or technology may require licenses arranged by Spire.
Nice to have
- At least 3 years of experience as a space systems engineer working across mechanical, electrical, software, controls, radio, or communications disciplines.
- Experience developing or integrating RF and optical payloads.
- Experience with digital-system architecture, ground station networks, data distribution, data processing, or spacecraft data handling systems.
- Experience in satellite mission design, development, testing, and major mission design trade-offs.
- Experience coordinating diverse technical teams across multiple engineering disciplines and time zones.
