Master Thesis, 30 HP: Interface Roadmaps in a Model-Based Reference Architecture (SysML)

What you will do

• Conduct a literature review on interface evolution, interface contracts, and product-line architectures in complex software-intensive and cyber-physical systems.
• Interview architects, platform owners, and product managers to identify important generic logical interfaces and current evolution challenges.
• Develop a method and metamodel for interface roadmaps linked to Surveillance 4+1 views and the Reference Architecture Roadmap.
• Apply the method to one or two concrete interfaces, modelling their current and future evolution over a 3–5 year horizon.
• Analyze how interface roadmap choices affect modularity, reuse, and integration effort across products and platforms.
• Optionally prototype tool support in Enterprise Architect, Python, or a lightweight web or visualization tool.

Requirements

• Be in the final stage of Engineering Design, Engineering Physics, Mechatronics, or an equivalent program.
• Be ready to begin a 30 HP master thesis project.
• Have an interest in system and software architecture, model-based systems engineering, and product-line or platform development.
• The project is suitable for two students.
• Pass security vetting under applicable security-protection regulations; additional citizenship obligations may apply where security clearance is required.
