Integrated Planning Intern - MN (Energy Planning)

Location: Minneapolis, MN 55401, United States; hybrid work with required in-person commuting

Salary: $18.90–$22.10 per hour

What you will do

• Support analytical, strategic, and technical projects in electric distribution and utility resource planning.
• Work with planners, engineers, and data analysts to evaluate future energy needs and emerging technologies.
• Develop planning assumptions and support regulatory filings and strategic initiatives.
• Analyze distributed energy resources, electrification trends, natural gas innovation, load growth, and infrastructure investments.
• Apply utility data, forecasting methods, energy-system planning concepts, and decarbonization strategies.

Requirements

• Current sophomore-level or higher student enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in engineering, computer science, economics, public policy, energy systems, data analytics, finance, or a related field.
• Able to work in person at the designated Minneapolis location under the hybrid work policy.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer and up to 20 hours per week during the school year.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Coursework in power systems, energy economics, utility regulation, forecasting, statistics, data science, or GIS.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Python, R, or SQL.
• Knowledge of electric utilities, natural gas utilities, energy systems, sustainability, or infrastructure planning.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
