Senior Scientist - Small Molecule and Oligonucleotide Process Sciences (Biotechnology)

What you will do

• Lead development, optimization, and characterization of solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis processes with an upstream focus.
• Drive process scalability and technology transfer activities, including work at OP100 scale.
• Design and execute process characterization studies and DoEs, troubleshoot analytical data, and support downstream purification improvements.
• Support MSAT with technology transfer, process validation, and continuous process verification activities.
• Coordinate milestones, dependencies, risks, laboratory resources, external manufacturing, supply chain partners, and CDMOs.
• Author and review SOPs, batch records, development reports, regulatory filing sections, validation documents, and change controls; mentor junior scientists.

Requirements

• PhD in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related field; MS or BS in a related scientific discipline may also be considered.
• Minimum experience of 2 years with a PhD or 8 years with an MS, preferably in oligonucleotide process development.
• Strong expertise in phosphoramidite and oligonucleotide process chemistry, including hands-on operation of automated synthesizers such as OP100 and Oligosynt platforms.
• Proficiency in HPLC and LC-MS for oligonucleotide characterization and analytical troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis, laboratory-scale synthesizers, GxP operations, quality systems, and the pharmaceutical development lifecycle.
• Excellent technical writing, organization, independent prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
