Software Test Co-op Student

hirify.global Discovery Canada develops marine electronics and software for positioning, surveying, navigation, and advanced subsea sonar systems.

What you will do

• Develop and execute manual test procedures for desktop, embedded, and system-level software.
• Create and maintain automated test scripts and test frameworks.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and acceptance testing for sonar control and monitoring applications.
• Track, verify, and troubleshoot software defects with software, hardware, and systems engineers.
• Validate software releases and maintain test documentation, reports, and validation records.
• Support software-hardware integration testing with laboratory sonar and electronics equipment.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related degree program.
• Completed the third or fourth year of study and eligible for a 4- or 8-month co-op work term.
• Knowledge of software development and testing principles.
• Programming experience in one or more of Python, C++, C#, or Java.
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience developing automated tests, test scripts, or using software quality assurance and validation practices.
• Exposure to hardware-software integration, embedded systems, networking, serial communications, or instrumentation interfaces.
• Experience with issue tracking, test management tools, or Agile development methodologies.
• Interest in robotics, marine technology, sensors, sonar systems, or LLM-based coding analysis and test tools.
