Founding Engineer (AI)

Location: Barcelona, Spain; office-first hybrid work with on-site attendance several days a week

What you will do

• Take ownership of major initiatives for a new hirify.global spinoff and help build the product from day zero.
• Establish goals and plan quarterly roadmaps, with attention to the technical needs of workflows, organization charts, policies, and analytics.
• Ship AI-powered features, evaluate them in production, and iterate based on reliability, user friction, and measurable results.
• Review agentic workflows and make practical decisions about LLM architecture and probabilistic systems.
• Participate in customer calls to understand user needs and collaborate closely with the engineering team.
• Review code daily, receive feedback through pull requests, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience and experience or strong interest in shipping AI-powered features.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails on the backend and React or TypeScript on the frontend.
• Experience integrating AI models into scalable, cloud-native environments.
• Ability to evaluate non-deterministic AI outputs, reason about LLM architecture tradeoffs, and improve production reliability.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to make sound decisions and build from scratch under uncertainty.
• Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly in English.
