State and Local Tax Associate

Location: New York; travel to assigned client locations is required

Salary: $74,800–$89,250 per year

What you will do

• Integrate state and local tax services with existing client engagements.
• Complete tax planning and research assignments and develop knowledge of state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
• Review client tax processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend enhancements to improve procedures and reduce tax exposure.
• Work with client information technology personnel to obtain historical purchasing and sales data for reporting, audits, refunds, and credits.
• Help clients evaluate sales/use tax software and support implementation.

Requirements

• Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
• Accounting major.
• Ability to travel to assigned client locations and arrange reliable transportation.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, computer, teamwork, and multitasking skills.

Nice to have

• Progress toward completing the CPA examination.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
