Financial Risk Internship (Customer Behaviour)

Location: Hybrid role based in CDR, Amsterdam; during the internship, enrollment at a Dutch university is mandatory, or at an EU university for EU passport holders.

Salary: €700 internship allowance based on a 36-hour work week.

What you will do

• Analyse customer behaviour for savings, mortgages, and other retail banking products.
• Monitor and maintain behavioural and replication models used across ING countries.
• Contribute to aligning methodologies, documenting insights, and assessing local model deviations.
• Support periodic behavioural reviews of assets and liabilities and prepare ALM and IRRBB deep-dive analyses.
• Work with model development, Model Validation, Group Treasury, and local risk teams.
• Translate analytical results into concise materials for global stakeholders and senior management.

Requirements

• Currently studying at a Dutch university, or at an EU university as an EU passport holder, for the duration of the internship.
• Studying economics, econometrics, mathematics, physics, data science, or a related field.
• Interest in financial risk, modelling, treasury, or banking.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Curiosity, proactive problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python.
• Experience with data analysis or visualisation tools.
