Software Developer (Angular/Node)

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship required. Core collaboration hours align with Eastern Time.

What you will do

• Develop, test, and maintain Angular front-end components and Node.js service endpoints for sprint-committed user stories.
• Build micro-frontend components integrating compliance workflows into the Coast Guard Trident portal.
• Implement and consume REST APIs for vessel, submission, and reference data exchange with Coast Guard systems.
• Write unit tests, support QA and user acceptance testing, and resolve defects within sprint timelines.
• Apply secure software development practices, including OWASP guidance, dependency management, container hardening, and CI/CD vulnerability remediation.
• Submit merge requests, participate in peer reviews, promote builds across environments, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent professional experience, training, or certifications.
• 3–6 years of professional software development experience across front-end and service-layer work on the same application.
• Proficiency with Angular 12 or later, TypeScript, component architecture, reactive forms, RxJS, and state handling.
• Working proficiency with Node.js, REST APIs, relational databases, SQL, and preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with Git-based version control, merge request-driven reviews, unit testing, automated CI/CD, and Agile or Scrum delivery.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a favorable DHS/U.S. Coast Guard moderate-risk public trust suitability determination are required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field.
• Federal, DoD, or DHS application development experience and AWS or AWS GovCloud experience.
• GitLab CI, micro-frontend patterns, OIDC or SAML identity integrations, or Appian and message-broker integrations.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FISMA, FedRAMP, DISA STIG requirements, or CompTIA Security+ CE.
• Existing DHS or Coast Guard suitability determination or an active federal background investigation.
