TL;DR
Operations Officer (Humanitarian Transport and Security): Safely transporting IRC personnel and materials while operating and maintaining standard and armored vehicles in Kherson, with an accent on defensive driving, vehicle inspections, and compliance with security procedures. Focus on driving in high-risk and frontline areas, maintaining accurate route documentation, and responding to changing traffic, weather, and safety conditions.

Location: Kherson, Ukraine. The position is office-based after the probationary period and includes business travel of up to 30%, including areas with elevated security risks and frontline territories.

What you will do

  • Transport IRC personnel and materials safely and efficiently.
  • Operate standard and armored IRC vehicles according to technical specifications, safety procedures, and traffic rules.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and arrange basic vehicle maintenance and servicing.
  • Maintain vehicle logbooks, route logs, and other required documentation.
  • Apply defensive driving principles and follow communication procedures in high-risk areas.
  • Represent IRC professionally and perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B and C driver’s licenses and at least three years of professional driving experience.
  • Strong practical skills driving manual-transmission vehicles, including vehicles in the relevant weight class.
  • Knowledge of safe and defensive driving, vehicle inspections, and basic maintenance troubleshooting.
  • Willingness to travel and work in elevated-security-risk and frontline areas in accordance with IRC procedures.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian is required. Basic English at A2–B1 is preferred.
  • High school or vocational technical education, basic computer skills, reliability, discipline, and the ability to work under stress.

Nice to have

  • Experience driving armored vehicles.
  • Experience with humanitarian organizations, international NGOs, or high-security-risk environments.
  • Armored Vehicle Training or equivalent specialized certification.
