Quality Assurance Engineer (BigQuery)

What you will do

• Define and maintain testing methodologies across the Google Cloud data engineering stack.
• Design and execute integration, regression, end-to-end, and data quality tests for ETL and ELT pipelines.
• Validate databases, stored procedures, functions, APIs, containers, and HTTP-triggered services using representative test data.
• Orchestrate pipeline validation through Cloud Composer, Apache Airflow, and scripting.
• Embed automated testing and dbt validations into CI/CD pipelines and provision reproducible environments with infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Monitor pipeline health, mentor junior QA engineers, and improve data quality KPIs and test effectiveness.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA or software testing experience, including data pipelines or data warehouses.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience writing data validation queries.
• Strong experience with GCP data technologies including BigQuery, dbt, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Run, Spanner, AlloyDB, and Cloud SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Great Expectations, Soda Core, dbt-utils, or dbt-expectations.
• Experience with CI/CD automation using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions, plus Python and pytest scripting.
• API testing experience with Postman and REST APIs, along with strong communication, mentoring, critical-thinking, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
• Experience with Dataplex, Cloud Logging, Elementary Data, data governance, lineage, and compliance validation.
• Exposure to enterprise data migration projects and data warehouse modernization.
