Senior Database Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in the Limassol, Cyprus office. Full relocation support is available for the employee and family, including flights, housing, visas, and legal assistance.

Salary: From €7,000 net per month, plus an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Design and evolve distributed database architectures for high availability, scalability, and production reliability.
• Own replication, failover, consistency, clustering, capacity planning, and disaster-recovery strategies.
• Diagnose complex performance and reliability issues, optimize queries and indexes, and eliminate system-wide bottlenecks.
• Automate database operations such as backups, failover, scaling, deployment, and infrastructure management.
• Define database security standards, including roles, privileges, auditing, and secure configurations.
• Partner with developers, SRE, and infrastructure teams, review operational changes, and mentor junior and mid-level database engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–7+ years of experience in database engineering or DBA roles, including high-load distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in at least two production database platforms, such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, MongoDB, or Cassandra.
• Strong knowledge of HA/DR, clustering, consistency, isolation, scaling, performance tuning, and query optimization.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools, automation, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong ownership of production systems, independent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder collaboration.
