Staff Application Security Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid; based in or working from an hirify.global office at least 3 days per week in Mountain View, CA; Livonia, MI; San Francisco, CA; Pittsburgh, PA; Dallas, TX; or Seattle, WA.

Salary: $189,000–$303,000 per year for San Francisco, Mountain View, and Seattle; $171,000–$273,000 per year for Pittsburgh, Livonia, and Dallas. Annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits are also available.

What you will do

• Partner with engineering teams on vulnerability fixes and secure design improvements, contributing production code.
• Investigate security findings, assess practical impact, and communicate evidence and remediation options.
• Build and maintain the application security program, tooling, and AI-assisted investigation workflows.
• Develop automation and integrate preventative security controls into the software development lifecycle.
• Use AI to scale security analysis while validating results and applying engineering judgment.

Requirements

• Substantial experience building and maintaining production software, with strong programming, debugging, and system design skills.
• Ability to investigate unfamiliar codebases, understand system behavior, and reason about potential misuse.
• Experience delivering technical work across teams in a large or complex engineering organization.
• Experience with threat modeling, technical risk communication, secure design, and practical collaboration with engineers.
• Experience building developer tooling, automation, or software development lifecycle integrations.
• Experience with C, C++, Go, Python, JavaScript, and web frameworks, plus practical AI use with validation of AI output.

Nice to have

• Experience building or maintaining cloud and embedded systems.
• Experience with safety-critical products, autonomous vehicles, application security, code audits, secure design reviews, or vulnerability investigation.
• Experience building production AI-assisted security tooling or automation.
