Senior Avionics Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses, which are built, integrated, and tested in-house.

What you will do

• Define avionics project scopes and initial requirements with cross-functional engineering teams, guiding designs from concept through prototype and production.
• Develop electrical architectures, system diagrams, and budgets covering power, telemetry, channel count, size, and mass.
• Analyze avionics architectures for faults and risks, develop mitigation plans, and support FDIR and operational workarounds.
• Create verification plans and conduct system-level testing on flight and Hardware In The Loop hardware.
• Oversee Winnebago avionics integration, investigate integrated system issues, and participate in mission operations as an avionics specialist or system operator.
• Build and operate HITL testbeds, ground infrastructure, test racks, and R&D equipment while improving test automation and engineering practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with power supplies, modular DAQ systems, RTD and 4–20 mA devices, and general test equipment.
• Must work on-site in El Segundo, California.
• Must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

• Experience taking vehicle electrical systems from concept through operational production.
• Experience setting up HITL testbeds, managing configuration control, and conducting system-level tests.
• Familiarity with Unix environments and command-line utilities.
• Experience developing test cases and test equipment for vehicle operating conditions.
• Project or program management experience and a background in avionics hardware, FPGA engineering, electronics testing, or electrical systems engineering.
