Reporter, Payments Dive (Fintech)

Location: Washington, DC, USA; based in the Washington, DC office with in-person work three days a week or more

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Produce timely news stories, daily briefs, newsletter content, and in-depth features for Payments Dive.
• Cover breaking news, business and financial developments, regulatory changes, legislative proposals, agency actions, earnings reports, and press releases.
• Develop industry knowledge and source relationships across payments, banking, technology, government, and financial services.
• Identify original storylines, pitch standout pieces, track down scoops, and contribute to larger editorial projects.
• Edit stories and newsletters, collaborate on assignments, attend conferences, and meet with industry sources.
• Track analytics to understand which stories resonate with readers.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of writing and reporting experience.
• Strong writing, reporting, digital news, information-finding, and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to interpret business concepts, financial reports, legal documents, SEC filings, and government regulations.
• Ability to build relationships with industry, government, and other sources and understand complex payments topics.
• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in journalism, English, or a similar field.
• Ability to work from the Washington, DC office three days a week or more.

• Experience reporting on business, financial services, payments, or fintech.
