Manager, Data Engineering

What you will do

• Lead a data engineering team within the Data Platform organization and translate business priorities into roadmaps, backlogs, and measurable outcomes.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Privacy, and business stakeholders to align priorities and execution plans.
• Set ownership, milestones, deadlines, operating rhythms, and delivery metrics while managing risks, dependencies, resources, and trade-offs.
• Hire, coach, develop, and manage the performance of data and platform engineers.
• Deliver trusted, reusable, governed data products supporting reporting, analytics, AI/ML, and product experiences.
• Partner with Staff+ engineers and architects on technical direction, platform health, reliability, scalability, cost management, and responsible AI tool adoption.

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or related fields, including 5+ years managing data engineers or platform teams.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Hands-on technical leadership across data architecture, modeling, ETL/ELT, batch and streaming pipelines, orchestration, and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience guiding design and delivery with SQL, Python, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake or BigQuery, Airflow, dbt, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD.
• Working knowledge of data governance, quality, privacy, security, lineage, compliance, reliability, and cost management.
• Experience using goals, delivery and operational metrics, continuous-improvement practices, and responsible AI tools in engineering teams.
