Platform Tech Lead (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid model with three days of on-site work per week. Work from abroad is available for up to 10 days per year, subject to business and team requirements.

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for the Application Platform and translate approved decisions into architecture, service interfaces, standards, and delivery plans.
• Lead cross-team platform initiatives and migrations, including build-versus-buy analysis and technical decision-making.
• Design, build, and operate platform capabilities and automation across managed services, AWS EKS, and shared software-delivery systems.
• Develop secure APIs and self-service workflows for recurring developer needs, including machine-usable interfaces for AI agents.
• Improve reliability, observability, security, maintainability, performance, incident learning, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with product teams, participate in the shared on-call rotation, explain technical decisions, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating production services end to end as a product engineer.
• Production software development experience with Go, TypeScript, or Python, including work across unfamiliar codebases.
• Experience designing, debugging, and operating services on AWS and Kubernetes, including EKS or a comparable Kubernetes environment.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, automated testing, safe rollout and recovery practices; AWS CDK is used, with Terraform or Pulumi also relevant.
• Experience designing secure APIs, automation, and self-service workflows and helping teams adopt shared platform capabilities.
• SRE experience with observability, SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, incident learning, recovery, architecture decisions, and technical leadership without formal authority.

• Experience leveraging AI tools for problem-solving and productivity while maintaining effective human oversight and judgment.
