Automation Test Engineer- GCP

What you will do

• Define and maintain testing methodologies for GCP data engineering pipelines using Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Run, BigQuery, and dbt.
• Design and execute integration, regression, end-to-end, container-level, HTTP-triggered, and data-quality tests for ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Validate Spanner, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, stored procedures, database functions, and intermediate and final pipeline outputs.
• Embed automated testing and dbt data-quality validations into GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions pipelines.
• Provision reproducible test environments with Terraform or Deployment Manager and monitor pipeline health using Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, and observability tools.
• Partner with data engineers and stakeholders, mentor junior QA members, and improve data-quality KPIs and testing practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in QA or software testing, including data pipelines or data warehouses.
• Advanced SQL skills for writing complex data-validation queries.
• Strong experience with GCP data tools, including dbt, BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Run, Spanner, AlloyDB, and Cloud SQL.
• Hands-on experience with Great Expectations, Soda Core, dbt-utils, or dbt-expectations.
• Experience with CI/CD automation, database emulators, test-environment provisioning, Python, pytest, and API testing with Postman and REST APIs.
• Strong communication, mentoring, critical-thinking, and attention-to-detail skills.

Nice to have

• GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
• Experience with Dataplex, Elementary Data, data governance, lineage, and compliance validation.
• Exposure to enterprise data migration projects and data warehouse modernization.
