Senior Software Engineer - Multiverse Staff Software Engineer, Simulator Platform Machine Learning Engineer, Prediction & Planning (Autonomous Driving)

Salary: $213,000–$263,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus, equity incentive plan, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Build a dynamic event-clustering product that produces low-latency clusters for emerging issues in simulation and real-world deployments.
• Design storage systems and pull- and push-based APIs for event access by downstream systems.
• Process updates from human triage and VLM inference to refine existing events.
• Orchestrate interactions with human-triage and large VLM-inference systems reliably and with low latency.
• Partner with UI teams to deliver event insights and visualizations for evaluating Waymo Driver performance.
• Collaborate with metrics, systems engineering, data science, infrastructure, product, and SRE teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, or a quantitative PhD with 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C++.
• Familiarity with Python and SQL.
• Interest in autonomous driving, simulation, and evaluation.
• Ability to develop reliable systems for large-scale data processing and production monitoring.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of industry experience or 3+ years of postdoctoral experience in quantitative- or quality-focused engineering.
• Technical leadership experience involving hypotheses, experiments, data processing, conclusions, and production-system stability.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
• Experience with FAANG-scale distributed systems.
