Open Source Research Specialist II

Location: Rosslyn, Virginia, United States; on-site. Night shift: 6:00 p.m.–6:15 a.m., four days on/four days off. Secret clearance required to start.

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year.

What you will do

• Collect, analyze, and interpret intelligence from social media, news sites, forums, and other open sources.
• Use Boolean logic, automated search tools, and online research techniques to identify potential threats.
• Research, compile reports, and identify emerging trends or threats under supervision.
• Support intelligence briefings and contribute to risk and threat assessments.
• Provide threat information used by security and law enforcement personnel to protect people, locations, and events.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of relevant experience, or at least seven years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Relevant experience in advanced online research or investigative techniques.
• Foundational knowledge of intelligence analysis methodologies and internet-based research, including Boolean logic.
• Knowledge of machine language translation methods and ability to learn new software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to summarize information clearly and concisely.
• Secret clearance required to start; ability to establish liaison and interact effectively with people at all levels.

• Knowledge of popular and fringe social media platforms.
• Completed open source intelligence or advanced internet research training.
