Senior Associate Scientist - Drug Product Development

Salary: $75,000–$108,333 per year

What you will do

• Support the design and development of oral solid dosage formulations, including tablets, capsules, and granules, for preclinical and clinical programs.
• Run excipient compatibility, solubility, dissolution, prototype development, and formulation optimization studies.
• Develop conventional and enabling formulations, including amorphous dispersions, to address bioavailability challenges.
• Support granulation, blending, compression, tableting, encapsulation, process development, scale-up, and technology transfer to GMP manufacturing.
• Plan and manage standard and moderately complex experiments with appropriate controls and limited supervision.
• Collaborate with CMC, Analytical, Biopharm, Quality, Regulatory, and Research colleagues; prepare technical reports, batch records, and related documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Food Science, or a related scientific or engineering discipline.
• At least 4 years of hands-on product or process development experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 2 years with a master’s degree.
• Industry experience in a pharmaceutical, laboratory, or related environment is required.
• Experience with oral solid dosage formulation for tablets and/or capsules.
• Experience running dissolution studies with USP 2, USP 4, USP 7, and/or Pion equipment, plus solubility testing.
• Ability to maintain accurate, complete, compliant documentation and follow safety practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with amorphous solid dispersions, nanosuspensions, or lipid-based formulations.
• Hands-on experience with tablet presses, granulation equipment, capsule filling machines, or coating equipment.
• Knowledge of powder characterization, Design of Experiments methodologies, process scale-up, and technology transfer.
• Experience working with external manufacturing or research partners.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
