Location: On-site at Cape Canaveral, FL, within the NASA-Kennedy Space Center area

What you will do
- Support the Infrastructure Pilot Excavator project for mining and transporting lunar regolith.
- Design and test mechanical, software, and control systems for simulated lunar environments.
- Develop test plans and provide engineering solutions for laboratory and field tests.
- Process test data and report findings to project Principal Investigators.
- Support the preparation of results for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
- Must be a US citizen.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Space Systems, or a closely related engineering or physical science discipline.
- Experience designing, controlling, and testing robotic hardware and software systems.
- Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical design and fabrication, PCB design and layout, and electrical component selection.
- Experience with LabView, KiCad EDA, Git, electrical datasheets, microcontrollers, and communication buses such as I2C, CAN, and SPI.
- Significant experience in lunar surface system research and a strong understanding of granular mechanics fundamentals.
Nice to have
- Experience working in Kennedy Space Center laboratories and following KSC procedures and regulations.
- Experience with load switches, Linux/Yocto, firmware development, power electronics, and battery-powered system design.
- Experience with lunar regolith technologies, granular mechanics, or regolith and soil behavior.
