Senior Systems Engineer (Defence)

Location: Adelaide or Melbourne, Australia; hybrid work from home and office is considered, with a 9-day fortnight option.

What you will do

• Define requirements for complex Destroyer Capability Enhancement upgrade packages, including elicitation, analysis, wording, and traceability.
• Review requirements for quality, correctness, and associated impacts.
• Establish and manage specifications for the DDG Combat System Functional and Allocated Baselines.
• Deliver requirements documentation, including CS Specifications and Requirements Traceability Matrices.
• Prepare and support Requirements Working Groups and Mandated System Reviews.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, workshops, strategic requirements changes, and process improvements while developing junior team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience, including complex, military, and software-intensive systems.
• Extensive experience with the systems engineering lifecycle, requirements definition and analysis, testing, and integration.
• Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, or Cradle, plus strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Significant experience with combat-system requirements in a maritime or equivalent context and integration, test, and evaluation of complex military systems.
• Australian citizenship is required, along with an Australian Defence Security Clearance at NV1 level or the ability to obtain one.
