TL;DR
Dynamics Engineering Intern – Summer 2027 (Aerospace) (Structural Dynamics): Deriving loads and environments for high-power satellites across transportation, launch, deployment, and on-orbit operation with an accent on dynamic analysis, testing, correlation, and aerospace hardware. Focus on using hand calculations, computational methods, development tests, and hardware trades to solve complex spacecraft dynamics challenges.
Location: In-person at headquarters in Torrance, Los Angeles
Hourly pay: $30–$40 per hour; housing and travel stipend may be available.

What you will do
- Derive loads and environments for satellites during ground transportation, launch, deployment, and on-orbit operation.
- Own dynamic analysis, testing, and correlation to identify system performance solutions.
- Execute a project with significant mission impact under the guidance of a mentor.
- Use hand calculations, computational methods, and development tests to understand relevant physics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on hardware trades with technicians, engineers, and managers.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least six months of technical engineering experience outside the university classroom, such as laboratory work, research, extracurricular projects, volunteering, personal projects, or prior work.
- Available for a minimum 12-week, in-person internship at the Torrance headquarters.
- Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
Nice to have
- Experience with FEA software packages.
- Experience with Python software development.
- Understanding of structural dynamics, testing, and measurements.
- Experience with mechanical hardware or integrated engineering systems outside the classroom.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, engineers, and managers.
