Laboratory Team Leader Histology

What you will do

• Provide operational and people leadership across the main laboratory and Histology functions.
• Manage Bioveterinary Scientists and support workload planning, prioritisation, staffing, recruitment, coaching, and employee relations.
• Oversee Histology workflow, staffing, technical guidance, competency development, and escalation of complex issues.
• Provide expert support across grossing, embedding, microtomy, and histochemical staining.
• Maintain quality, turnaround times, SOP compliance, health and safety, equipment, consumables, and resource management.
• Lead or support investigations, audits, continuous improvement, and resolution of sample, testing, and customer-related queries.

Requirements

• Experience in a high-throughput veterinary diagnostic laboratory environment.
• Strong practical Histology knowledge, including grossing, embedding, microtomy, and histochemical staining.
• Experience providing technical guidance and troubleshooting complex Histology issues.
• Understanding of QA/QC, laboratory quality systems, SOP compliance, health and safety, and quality investigations.
• Experience supporting staffing, training, competency, and team development.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, escalation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
