Business Operations Manager

Location: Bastrop, Texas, United States; onsite role with travel to customer sites, SpaceX locations, and events

What you will do

• Own cost improvement and unit economics for assigned SpaceX hardware programs, including should-cost models and cost targets.
• Analyze cost per unit, revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
• Guide Supply Chain, Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing decisions through cost-versus-performance tradeoffs.
• Track and manage profit improvement initiatives, including design proposals, supply chain changes, and manufacturing process improvements.
• Evaluate CapEx decisions, expansion plans, automation, manufacturing scope, insourcing versus outsourcing, and location strategy.
• Develop and execute operational improvement initiatives with SpaceX leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, data science, physics, or another quantitative field.
• At least 4 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, product management, operations, FP&A, consulting, banking, or entrepreneurship.
• At least 2 years of experience using Excel or programming.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to work independently with large datasets.
• Ability to interpret income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, and to build analytical models using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Must be eligible to work under U.S. ITAR requirements through U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylee status, or required government authorization.

Nice to have

• Quantitative dual degree in engineering and economics or business, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated success influencing broader organizations and delivering tangible business impact.
• Exceptional performance in ambiguous environments, with strong ownership, urgency, and bias toward action and automation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior business leaders.
