Business Operations Manager (Aerospace)

Location: Bastrop, Texas, United States. The role requires extended hours and weekends as needed, plus travel to customer sites, other SpaceX locations, and events.

What you will do

• Own cost improvement and unit economics for SpaceX hardware programs, including should-cost models and cost targets.
• Analyze cost per unit, revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, and capital expenditures using complex models and decision-making tools.
• Guide Supply Chain, Engineering, Design, and Manufacturing decisions through cost-versus-performance tradeoffs.
• Track and manage profit-improvement initiatives across product design, supply chain, and manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate capital expenditure decisions, expansion plans, automation, manufacturing scope, insourcing versus outsourcing, and location strategy.
• Develop and execute operational and cost-improvement initiatives with SpaceX leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, data science, physics, or another quantitative field.
• 4+ years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, product management, operations, FP&A, consulting, banking, or entrepreneurship.
• 2+ years of experience with Excel or programming.
• Strong analytical modeling skills and the ability to interpret income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with the ability to work independently with large datasets.
• Must satisfy U.S. ITAR requirements: U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. lawful permanent residency, refugee or asylee status, or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

• Quantitative dual degree in engineering and economics or business, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated success influencing broader organizations and delivering tangible impact.
• Experience with Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker for analytical modeling.
• Exceptional ability to operate in ambiguous environments, with strong ownership and a bias toward action and automation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with senior business leaders.
