Laboratory Assistant/Technician – Sample Preparation

Location: Onsite in Murarrie, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Candidates must currently be based in Brisbane.

Applicants must be eligible to work in Australia or New Zealand and already hold work rights or an appropriate working visa.

Full-time role with day, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts available Monday to Friday.

What you will do

• Receive, sort, register, and assign soil and water samples using the LIMS database.
• Prepare batch sheets in Microsoft Excel, weigh samples, and transfer subsamples to the appropriate laboratory departments.
• Extract analytes according to standard operating procedures and maintain sample traceability.
• Perform quality control tests, prioritise urgent samples, and process quarantine samples according to approved procedures.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment, replenish consumables, and dispose of waste safely.
• Maintain a clean, organised laboratory and follow company policies and the Code of Ethics.

Requirements

• Good understanding of chemistry and mathematics equivalent to Year 12; a science-related degree is beneficial.
• No minimum experience required; previous laboratory experience is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality output.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on, practical approach.
• Willingness to learn, improve, and take on additional responsibilities.
• Must currently be based in Brisbane and have work rights or an appropriate working visa for Australia or New Zealand.
