Data Scientist, Platform Responsibility - USDS (AI/LLM)

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days a week

Salary: $144,000–$329,334 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain core metrics systems and detection engineering data pipelines for content safety and platform risk.
• Develop monitoring and detection systems for security incidents, risk alerts, policy adjustments, content violations, user reports, and account risks.
• Apply A/B testing, causal inference, regression analysis, and other statistical methods to evaluate security policies and experiments.
• Build quantitative analysis systems and use data mining to identify optimization opportunities for platform safety.
• Work with product, operations, R&D, and algorithm teams to turn analytical insights into implemented improvements.
• Create reusable analysis frameworks and tools, contribute to data product design, and use AI and LLM techniques to improve operational workflows.

Requirements

• 2+ years of data science experience, including experience with Internet or content-platform safety.
• Master’s degree or above in statistics, data science, computer science, operations research, mathematics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python-based data analysis tools, with strong data visualization skills.
• Understanding of common machine learning algorithms, causal inference, and A/B testing.
• Strong logical thinking, problem-solving, communication, cross-team collaboration, and project management skills.

• Experience in content security, integrity, or risk management.
