Software Engineer, Ads Tooling

Location: San Jose, California, United States; fully in-person schedule up to 5 days per week

Salary: $136,800–$359,720 annually, plus potential discretionary bonuses, incentives, and restricted stock units.

What you will do

• Build and own internal tooling and platforms for ads-system validation, including test frameworks, environment and data provisioning, assertion libraries, and self-service harnesses.
• Audit engineering workflows and automate manual verification, repetitive debugging, slow feedback loops, and high-toil release procedures.
• Build quality infrastructure for training and serving consistency, prediction-service invariants, and fallback validation.
• Develop automated monitoring that detects regressions in business and quality metrics and routes actionable findings to owning engineers.
• Integrate validation into CI/CD as default release gates and improve tooling adoption through feedback and iteration.
• Apply LLM and agent-based approaches to test generation, failure triage, and coverage analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, developer tooling, quality engineering, or test infrastructure for complex distributed systems.
• Experience building tooling or frameworks used by other engineers.
• Hands-on experience authoring CI/CD pipelines, including release-gating logic.
• Demonstrated ability to identify repetitive engineering work and replace it with automation producing measurable results.
• Ability to work fully onsite in San Jose, California, up to five days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with ads domains such as auctions, bidding, ranking, attribution, or billing.
• Experience building internal developer platforms, engineering-efficiency tooling, or test infrastructure adopted across a team or organization.
• Experience validating large-scale ranking and machine learning infrastructure, model evaluation, A/B experiment correctness, or online/offline consistency.
• Applied LLM or agent tooling for engineering workflows, including structured-output schema design.
