Senior Mechancal Design Engineer (Medical)

Location: Milwaukee Design Center in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, United States; ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

What you will do

• Lead multiple complex, integrated engineering projects from kickoff through implementation.
• Create electro-mechanical parts and assemblies using parametric 3D CAD, structural analysis, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
• Develop prototypes, review tooling and manufacturing test fixtures, and support design transfer to mass production.
• Contribute to product risk analysis, usability, verification, certification testing, and regulatory compliance.
• Analyze field returns, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Guide team leaders, coordinate cross-functional stakeholders, lead design reviews, and identify opportunities for intellectual property protection.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 10+ years of product design experience in medical, consumer, automotive, aerospace, or similarly regulated industries.
• Exceptional 3D CAD skills with Inventor or SolidWorks, including robust parametric models and master-model-driven assemblies.
• Experience with mass-production processes such as injection molding, blow molding, welded steel structures, sheet metal forming, die casting, and CNC machining.
• Experience with DFM, DFA, DFMEA, risk-based design, and agency certification requirements including ISO, IEC, AAMI, UL, CE, CISPR, FCC, or FDA.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, collaboration, and project leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with FEA and dynamic mechanical performance analysis.
• Familiarity with electrical engineering and software disciplines.
• Experience with FDA-related standards, including the 60601 family.
• Experience interfacing with Intertek, UL, or TÜV certification bodies.
• Experience with Jira, Monday, Todoist, Scrum environments, or similar project management tools.
