TL;DR
Quantitative Developer - Researcher (AI): Developing MSCI's index construction and analytics platforms, AI-enabled research infrastructure, and quantitative investment capabilities with an accent on Python software engineering, Azure, and factor investing. Focus on evaluating AI-generated code, building reusable developer platforms, and taking quantitative research from prototyping through implementation and product delivery.
Location: Budapest, Hungary
Salary: HUF 13,728,000–15,101,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do
- Develop and enhance the Index Development Platform and IndexMetrics Real-Time application using Python, Azure, modern software engineering practices, and AI-assisted development tools.
- Evaluate emerging AI-enabled software development tools and establish best practices for engineering productivity, software quality, and developer workflows.
- Deliver training and provide technical guidance to engineering and research teams on AI-assisted development.
- Contribute to quantitative research initiatives, including factor investing and alternative data projects.
- Support the full lifecycle from research and prototyping through implementation, client engagement, and product delivery.
Requirements
- Excellent Python software development skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and identify subtle defects.
- Understanding of equity markets, portfolio construction, or quantitative investment processes, or a strong interest in developing expertise in these areas.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across research, engineering, and business teams.
- Ability to work in Budapest.
Nice to have
- Experience designing reusable software libraries, frameworks, APIs, or developer platforms.
- Experience with Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software engineering practices.
