Modeling and Visualization Engineer Co-Op (Power BI)

What you will do

• Build and validate Power BI semantic models that reference enterprise data warehouses.
• Determine whether DirectQuery or Import mode is appropriate for table ingestion and improve SQL generated through Power Query.
• Develop enterprise reporting from Databricks and align it with trusted Snowflake-based reporting.
• Research tools and approaches that improve reporting development throughput and validation.
• Support administration, monitoring, troubleshooting, access management, and governance for Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI Service, and other SaaS platforms.
• Document model schemas, API integrations, AI governance standards, operational guides, and root-cause analysis findings.

Requirements

• Current graduate or undergraduate student in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Information Systems, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience creating Power BI semantic models connected to a data warehouse and validating results against source data or existing reports.
• Ability to write and understand moderately complex SQL.
• Familiarity with AI concepts through coursework or personal projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and learning skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile, team-based environment and troubleshoot platform issues.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Azure coursework or exposure, including Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
• Knowledge of cloud computing concepts such as compute, storage, networking, and identity.
• Experience with Excel for validating reporting results.
• Exposure to Tableau, Databricks, Snowflake, or other analytics and BI tools.
• Advanced AI-agent approaches for transitioning Power BI semantic-model logic between Snowflake and Databricks.
