Principal Software Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Write production-quality code and deliver high-impact features and system improvements across core services, platforms, and AI workflows.
• Modernize legacy systems and migrate them incrementally to scalable, cloud-native architectures.
• Design and evolve microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven integrations, containerized applications, and SaaS platforms.
• Build and orchestrate production-grade agentic AI systems with tool use, multi-step reasoning, workflow automation, planning, memory, state management, and human oversight.
• Integrate AI systems with business workflows, APIs, data sources, and event-driven systems while implementing grounding, retrieval, validation, structured outputs, evaluation, monitoring, and feedback loops.
• Lead complete project workstreams, set architectural direction, coordinate stakeholders and dependencies, mentor engineers, and support production operations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, including ownership and delivery of large, complex systems.
• Hands-on experience shipping AI-driven and agentic AI systems in production or production-like environments, including LLMs, tool or function calling, context and memory management, structured outputs, workflow state, and AI workflow orchestration such as MCP-style patterns.
• Expert-level proficiency in C# and .NET, including ASP.NET Core and modern .NET development.
• Experience with React or Angular; React is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, plus experience with PostgreSQL, NoSQL data stores, and caching strategies such as Redis.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, distributed systems, microservices architectures, system architecture, and production-quality code.
• Strong experience with Docker and production containerization, practical Kubernetes experience, and comfort working in AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience with Git, modern development workflows, testing strategies, CI/CD, observability, and production support.
• Proven technical leadership across teams or domains, independent project leadership, stakeholder coordination, technical risk management, and mentoring and development of engineers.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python, Java, TypeScript, or polyglot engineering environments.
• Experience with message queues, event streaming, or workflow orchestration platforms.
• Experience with vector databases, retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs, or semantic search.
• Experience building AI evaluation harnesses, prompt and version management, safety checks, or governance workflows.
• Background with high-throughput, real-time, or operationally critical SaaS systems.
• Strong background in Agile/Scrum environments and cross-functional delivery.
