TL;DR
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Technician (Rockwell Automation): Diagnosing, repairing, modifying, and commissioning PLC systems across hydro, wind, BESS, and solar generation assets in New Zealand with an accent on field-based fault finding, OT networks, and hardware upgrades. Focus on root-cause investigation, testing Rockwell PLC logic, maintaining automation standards, and supporting projects across Meridian’s generation fleet.
Location: Twizel, Waitaki area, New Zealand; regular travel across New Zealand generation sites is required.

What you will do
- Diagnose and repair PLC faults and issues on site or remotely.
- Support maintenance teams during outages, modifications, testing, and other site activities.
- Update and maintain documentation for PLC modifications and automation standards.
- Ensure new and modified physical installations and software comply with standards.
- Provide PLC support for minor and major projects across hydro and wind assets.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Rockwell Automation PLC equipment and systems, particularly PLC5 and ControlLogix.
- Current New Zealand electrical registration.
- Experience with fault finding, root-cause investigation, and modification of physical automation installations and OT networks.
- Experience modifying and testing Rockwell PLC logic and hardware.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines and explain technical problems to non-technical people.
- Willingness to live in Twizel and travel around New Zealand.
