Member of the Technical Staff (AI Research)

Location: San Francisco, United States; on-site

Base salary: $200,000–$500,000+ per year. Additional compensation includes a sizable performance bonus and meaningful early-stage equity grant.

What you will do

• Architect and execute foundational research advancing model reasoning and intelligence at scale.
• Own the full research-to-production lifecycle, including rapid deployment into live systems.
• Design and iterate on high-impact datasets, large-scale benchmarks, alignment methods, safety approaches, and reward signals with leading AI research teams.
• Identify, scope, and manage long-running research projects focused on scaling data for AGI and ASI.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on data pipelines, internal tooling, and high-performance deep learning implementations.
• Develop large-scale agent systems covering orchestration, tool APIs, distributed execution, observability, and logging.

Requirements

• PhD in a related field such as computer science, machine learning, or NLP is preferred.
• World-class research publication record, preferably at venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, or ICLR.
• Experience shipping research directly to production and live systems.
• Experience with advanced post-training, distillation, high-stakes evaluation, and large-scale benchmarking.
• Ability to master complex fields and take autonomous ownership of high-impact research problems.
• Thoughtful perspective on the societal and safety implications of general-purpose AI systems.

Nice to have

• Experience advising on or shaping governmental policy related to AI safety and governance.
