Forward Deployed Engineer (Ruby/Rails)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco or Seattle, with remote work available for the right candidate; up to 50% travel for customer site visits. The San Francisco team works in the office on Mondays and Thursdays.

Compensation: $200,000–$300,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Lead customer discovery and architecture sessions to design performant, secure, and scalable integrations.
• Run virtual and in-person co-development sessions with customer engineering teams integrating with hirify.global APIs.
• Provide technical support, consulting, debugging, triage, and post-launch issue resolution.
• Build improvements and bug fixes for RESTful APIs, connectors, and integration tools.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Customer Support, Sales, and other teams on customer integration projects.
• Deliver product feedback and champion security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance for sensitive data.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in a customer-facing integration or consulting role.
• Experience architecting, building, and maintaining distributed integrated systems.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, ETL data pipelines, and enterprise data warehouses.
• Experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails; familiarity with Python, C#, Java, or other languages.
• Ability to manage personal projects and time while working effectively with cross-functional partners.
• Comfort working with legacy systems, ambiguity, risk, and iterative MVP development.

Nice to have

• Government-sector or legacy-system experience.
• Experience and sound judgment related to generative AI.
