Level Designer (Unreal)

Location: Hybrid work in Montréal, Quebec, Canada

What you will do

• Create high-quality levels focused on innovative gameplay, accessibility, pacing, and atmosphere.
• Design level layouts, gameplay situations, design documents, 3D environments, puzzles, and player challenges.
• Integrate actors and scripted events, balance gameplay in-game, and help develop project features and mechanics.
• Collaborate with Level Artists, Game Designers, the Game Director, animation, and programming teams.
• Write level design documentation and support less experienced Level Designers.

Requirements

• University or college diploma in Game Design or equivalent training.
• More than 3 years of experience as a Level Designer in the video game industry.
• At least one published title as a Level Designer.
• Strong knowledge of systemic design, level architecture, 3D environments, open-world design, and puzzle design.
• Experience with industry-standard level editing tools, editors, and pipelines; knowledge of Photoshop, SketchUp, and Unreal Engine.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain and demonstrate design ideas.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of scripting and AI.
• Experience in puzzle level design and the ability to multitask.
• Leadership, proactivity, and experience collaborating across design, animation, and programming.
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and contribute to continuous improvement.
