Principal Engineer II (Linux Team)

Location: Hybrid in Dublin, Ireland, with 60% office attendance three times a week at the Leopardstown HQ. Participation in an on-call rotation and occasional off-hours maintenance or incident response may be required.

What you will do

• Lead architecture, design decisions, and delivery for business-critical technical projects.
• Design, implement, maintain, and optimize highly available Linux environments across on-premises and virtualized platforms.
• Administer IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) and manage distributed storage, data integrity, performance, and capacity.
• Deploy and enhance OpenShift, Kubernetes, and OpenShift AI platforms for secure application delivery.
• Manage VMware infrastructure, security hardening, monitoring, disaster recovery, and high-availability capabilities.
• Drive scripting, automation, infrastructure-as-code, troubleshooting, standards, documentation, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

• Extensive Linux systems engineering and administration experience, including RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent.
• Proven IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) expertise covering design, deployment, and performance tuning.
• Proven OpenShift, Kubernetes, and OpenShift AI experience, including cluster management and container orchestration.
• Experience with VMware environments, system performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Experience implementing security hardening, patching strategies, compliance frameworks, disaster recovery, contingency planning, and high-availability architectures.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
• Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Platform Engineering, and enterprise monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and SolarWinds.
• Relevant certifications such as RHCE, RHCA, OpenShift, or equivalent; ability to lead complex technical projects, influence architecture, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and mentor engineers.
