Principal Engineer II (Linux team)

Location: Office hybrid in Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland, with 60% office attendance three times per week. Participation in an on-call rotation and occasional off-hours maintenance or incident response may be required.

What you will do

• Lead business-critical technical projects, owning architecture, design decisions, and delivery.
• Design, implement, and maintain highly available Linux environments across on-premises and virtualized platforms.
• Administer and optimize IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS) for distributed storage and data management.
• Deploy and manage OpenShift, Kubernetes, and OpenShift AI container platforms.
• Optimize VMware infrastructure while maintaining system performance, availability, security, and data integrity.
• Drive automation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, engineering standards, documentation, and technical mentoring.

Requirements

• Extensive Linux systems engineering and administration experience, including RHEL, CentOS, or equivalent.
• Proven expertise designing, deploying, and tuning IBM Spectrum Scale (GPFS).
• Experience managing OpenShift, Kubernetes, and OpenShift AI clusters and container orchestration.
• Experience with VMware, high-availability architectures, disaster recovery, monitoring, logging, and capacity planning.
• Strong scripting and automation skills with Bash, Python, Ansible, or Terraform; solid TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and firewall knowledge.
• Experience with security hardening, patching, compliance frameworks, CI/CD, Platform Engineering, and leading complex technical projects.

Nice to have

• RHCE, RHCA, OpenShift, or equivalent certifications.
• Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or SolarWinds.
