Staff QA Automation Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design quality engineering frameworks, tooling, and standards used across the engineering organisation.
• Build risk-aware CI testing standards with dependency models for targeted test selection and breaking-change detection.
• Establish unit, integration, and contract testing practices with observability to keep pipelines reliable.
• Define automated pass/fail analysis for canary releases using production traffic signals.
• Develop AI-assisted quality capabilities, including change-risk classification, mutation testing, test generation, and self-healing checks.
• Drive adoption of quality standards across distributed engineering teams as a specialist individual contributor.

Requirements

• Expertise with test automation frameworks such as pytest, Playwright, Selenium, and API testing tools.
• Experience architecting and maintaining automation frameworks used across a wider engineering organisation.
• Deep knowledge of testing microservice or distributed syshirify.globals, API automation, CI/CD integration, and service-level testing strategies.
• Experience leading testing innovation and proof-of-concept work, especially AI-led regression optimisation and change-risk analysis.
• Experience with contract testing or consumer/provider verification, such as Pact or OpenAPI schema validation.
• AWS infrastructure experience, including Lambda, GitHub Actions self-hosted runners, and deployment tooling.

Nice to have

• Experience with canary releases, feature flags, and automated rollback based on production signals.
• Mutation testing and test-data management in shared environments.
• Experience in regulated or high-stakes domains such as energy, fintech, or payments.
