Junior Environment Surfacing Artist

What you will do

• Create textures using photographic references, digital painting, existing assets, and procedural workflows.
• Paint stylized textures based on concept art while maintaining the visual style of the production.
• Create procedural textures and author or modify materials using established shading and rendering workflows.
• Apply UV, texture layout, physically based shading, and material property knowledge to environment and prop assets.
• Collaborate with the Environment Surfacing team and other departments, communicating progress, questions, and potential issues.
• Follow the guidance of Environment Surfacing Supervisors and Lead Artists while developing production pipeline knowledge.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in VFX, animation, or a related industry; recent graduates with a strong portfolio may be considered.
• Familiarity with Substance 3D Painter, Substance 3D Designer, and/or Mari.
• Strong artistic or technical aptitude related to 3D animation or VFX.
• Basic understanding of UV creation and layout, lighting, modeling, physically based shading, and material properties.
• Basic knowledge of RenderMan and/or Arnold is desirable.
• Medium English level required; Spanish is desirable.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Houdini and Solaris.
• Understanding of displacement workflows.
