TL;DR
Quality Control Manager (Beverage Manufacturing): Leading production quality, food safety, supplier quality, and continuous improvement across winery and distillery bottling operations with an accent on quality systems, investigations, audits, and product release. Focus on managing quality teams, validating equipment and processes, resolving non-conformances, and reducing supplier and production risk.

Location: Field Office in the Napa, Sonoma, or Solano area, California, United States. The role requires work across winery and distillery sites and travel of up to 30%.

Salary: $100,300–$153,600 per year, plus benefits including paid time off, medical, dental and vision insurance, and 401(k).

What you will do

  • Lead production quality coverage for bottling, including start-up activities, validations, in-process checks, inspections, and final product releases.
  • Manage quality investigations, root cause analysis, non-conforming material holds and releases, rework plans, and quality reporting.
  • Lead supplier qualification, performance monitoring, audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support food safety programs covering hazard analysis, risk management, sanitation verification, environmental monitoring, and contamination prevention.
  • Coordinate with winemaking, distillation, operations, supply chain, procurement, engineering, regulatory, and commercial teams.
  • Lead, coach, and develop quality personnel while managing budgets, capital requests, and resource planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, engineering, business administration, quality assurance, statistics, or a related science field.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in quality, food safety, laboratory operations, beverage, winery, brewery, spirits, or food manufacturing environments.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing quality teams.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, process controls, beverage manufacturing, supplier quality, and auditing practices.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, risk assessment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of FDA, FSMA, TTB, OSHA, GMP, HACCP, and applicable food safety standards; ability to move up to 55 lbs and work in varied production environments.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing wine production and packaging quality.
  • ASQ certifications, HACCP certification, or Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Experience with sensory science, SPC, data analytics, environmental monitoring, export requirements, or quality transformations.
