Staff Platform Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid work in Limassol, Tbilisi, or Paphos

What you will do

• Design and evolve a hybrid platform spanning on-premises data centers and AWS.
• Build abstractions for seamless application deployment across bare-metal and cloud environments.
• Develop an Internal Developer Platform and developer portal using Backstage or a custom solution.
• Unify provisioning, management, and operations for EKS, bare-metal Kubernetes, and KubeVirt clusters.
• Build platform services, CLI tools, Kubernetes controllers, and operators in Go.
• Define technical strategy and mentor senior and lead engineers across teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in infrastructure and systems engineering, including 2+ years at Staff, Principal, or Tech Lead level.
• Deep expertise in AWS, including EKS, VPC, Direct Connect, and IAM.
• Strong Go proficiency for developing platform automation tools, custom controllers, and operators.
• Expert knowledge of Kubernetes internals, custom resource definitions, and controller design patterns.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or OpenTofu, plus IDP, GitOps, ArgoCD, service catalogs, and DORA metrics.
• Practical understanding of hybrid networking and Zero Trust security principles.

Nice to have

• Experience with KubeVirt, Cilium, or OpenTelemetry.
• Background in FinOps and infrastructure total cost of ownership tracking.
