Senior Compliance Engineer (Underwater Robotics)

Location: Fareham, United Kingdom; national and occasional international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Maintain compliance of underwater robotics products with national and international regulations and standards, including CE, UL, FCC, DNV, Norsok, IMCA, and Lloyd’s Register.
• Create and maintain technical files, declarations, compliance assessments, verification plans, and test plans.
• Monitor regulatory and standards updates and assess their impact on products.
• Coordinate testing and accreditation activities with engineering, production, external laboratories, and notified bodies.
• Analyse test results, report product compliance status, and guide design engineering teams.
• Support design reviews, product releases, engineering changes, and continuous improvement of compliance processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, graduate certificate, or diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Working knowledge of EN 61010 and EN 60204 low-voltage safety standards.
• Working knowledge of EMC standards and CE/FCC directives, environmental testing, and electronic systems, including PCBs and wiring.
• Understanding of mechanical principles applicable to manufactured components and assemblies.
• Ability to work independently and within project teams, prioritise workload, and deliver assigned work.
• Confidence communicating with external service providers, senior managers, and directors.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PCB layout and manufacturing systems, creepage and clearance requirements, insulation barriers, and critical component review.
• Knowledge of EMC testing for immunity and emissions under IEC 61000 standards.
• Experience with marine products, EN 60945, DNV Rules, Norsok, IMCA, or Lloyd’s Register.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing principles.
