TL;DR
Gaming Architect (iGaming): Defining and governing scalable, resilient, and secure backend architecture for a high-volume online gaming platform with an accent on domain-driven design, provider integrations, real-time messaging, and regulatory capabilities. Focus on designing distributed services, ensuring transactional integrity and fault tolerance, and embedding security, observability, and compliance into the platform.
Location: Malta; hybrid working model with options for remote working from abroad.

What you will do
- Define and evolve the target architecture for scalable gaming backend services, including solution designs, integration contracts, architecture decisions, and technical roadmaps.
- Design domain capabilities across game management, gameplay, player and wallet interactions, provider integrations, promotions, responsible gaming, regulatory functions, and operational tooling.
- Architect REST APIs, asynchronous events, real-time messaging, queues, webhooks, and provider-specific integrations with reliable versioning, retries, idempotency, and failure handling.
- Design for high availability, low latency, horizontal scalability, fault isolation, disaster recovery, observability, and predictable performance under peak gaming loads.
- Embed security, auditability, data protection, regulatory controls, and responsible-gaming requirements into platform architecture.
- Lead architecture reviews, guide implementation, manage technical debt, mentor engineers, and align product, engineering, infrastructure, security, data, compliance, and external partners.
Requirements
- Several years of senior software engineering experience designing complex backend or distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of microservices, domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, API design, and integration patterns.
- Hands-on experience with .NET, Java, or an equivalent modern backend stack, plus SQL and NoSQL data stores.
- Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ and container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with cloud architecture, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, production operations, incident analysis, and DevSecOps practices.
- Relevant experience in online gaming or another high-volume, transactional, regulated digital industry, along with strong analytical, documentation, facilitation, and communication skills.
